Big New Plan

Have not posted for a while....years in fact.  But the opportunity of a lifetime has presented itself.....and I (like Oscar Wilde) can resist anything but temptation!!!

A mate of mine has been separated from their partner for sometime and another mate has just been divorced.  They were hatching a plan to see the world - well the bits that are accessible and safe. I, of course could not resist making copious suggestions of places they should go!  Maybe to shut me up, or maybe to be monumentally generous....they said why don’t you come with us?  I said “Darlings, got no money, you know that !”  Now between them they have FUNDS!!!! And so they immediately said “We’ll pay - business class flights and accommodation!”

NOW I ASK YOU??!!

Now dear reader - who amongst you would not have jumped at that proposition without a second thought - the mere mention of Business Class was all I basically heard.  All I would have to do was bring food money and spending money.  Who said I couldn’t live on a lettuce leaf and a glass of water!!!!!

Let me explain.....my husband, who I love to my last breath - is NOT a traveller/tourist.  He is a stay at home sort of fellow.  I think he imagined that my travelling days are now over....so when I told him of the offer he was appalled - a bit.  Because as a stay at home sort of person he cannot understand travelling - at all. I did explain that this was an offer of a lifetime....and possibly my last chance to see parts of the world I have not seem. And to be honest that is how I feel. My husband is not young and has advancing arthritis and will need looking after by me in the long term......but he can look after himself quite happily now.....as well as the dog and the cat. And my daughter and the neighbours will check on him and boss him about regularly while I am away. My younger son will visit and check on the garden. My husband is a good garden waterer (with beer or wine in hand) but he does not know ANYTHING about plants - can’t tell a weed from newly planted buddleia. Hopefully my older son, who is still at home will walk Tilly until he meets me in Europe to walk El Camino.

So you can see I can leave with a relatively clear conscience.  I hacked promised my darling Husband I will care for him when I return as he deserves and needs to be cared for, and will do so till my dying breath.  Husband - God love him - has promised me some money for this foray, so we are all set.  Leave on Christmas night!!!!!
